Quantified Self Meetup in Prague This Week

The Quantified Self group in Prague will be having a meetup this week. The group’s organizer Jan Pavuk, will distill what he learned at the recent BNA Festival of Neuroscience into practical methods and tools that can be used for people’s QS practice.

Meetup Today in Portland

There is a Quantified Self meetup happening in Portland tonight. Mark Leavitt will present an update to his Health E-Seat project (his office chair is a recliner/recumbent bike hybrid). It will feature some in-progress projects on tracking intentions and recording mood and music. The night will end with a talk about my attempt to apply the findings of a study on improving learning with smell to my spaced repetition practice.

Meetups This Week in Dublin and Austin

IMG_4626Dublin recently put on a fantastic meeting with a couple of great talks about gut health (which you can watch). They are back at it again, with three speakers on bio-markers related to nutrition. Austin’s theme is nutrition as well, with the main talk on a person’s data collected while losing 95 pounds on a ketogenic diet.

Meetups This Week in Washington D.C. and Copenhagen

Copenhagen has an amazing slate of presentations lined up for their Quantified Self meetup this week. Katarzyna Wac will speak about what she’s learned from using a continuous glucose monitor (there’s an interesting discussion on this topic going on in the QS forum).  Thomas Blomseth Christiansen will talk about what he tracked while training for a half-marathon. Jakob Eg Larsen will look at sleep and resting heart rate over a long time period. And finally, Frederik Ackermann will give pointers for designing N=1 experiments.

Upcoming Meetups in Colorado Springs, Bay Area, New York, and London

There are a great set of Quantified Self meetups getting together in the upcoming weeks. There will be a discussion in Colorado Springs on designing N=1 experiments. The Bay Area meetup will feature talks on how the Apple Watch’s fitness goals made one person less active and how another used time tracking to evaluate whether his time was being spent wisely. There will be a presentation by Mike Snyder, whose lab is using self-collected data make some fascinating findings, such as how heart rate data can predict sickness before symptoms appear.

New York and London will announce their speakers soon, but they are always fantastic gatherings, and as of this writing, New York only has 8 spots left, so RSVP quickly if you plan on attending.

Meetups This Week

A great group of Quantified Self meetups are occurring this week. The group in Hamburg will have their meeting in conjunction with Social Media Week. The group in Dublin will be focusing on gut health, with a talk on stool analysis and another on gut hormones. Austin will welcome Dr. Bruce  Meleski to speak about techniques for increasing resiliency. Finally, Groningen will have talks about newborn tracking and trying to learn about happiness through self-tracking.

Meetups This Week in Switzerland and Ireland

It’s 2017 and we’re looking forward to a new year of fun and informative Quantified Self meetups. This week brings the first of the bunch with Zürich and Dublin.  Zürich‘s meeting will feature a presentation on the current and future impact of the Quantified Self movement on Swiss society. Dublin will feature great talks on how to use blood testing to track and improve various biomarkers.

Meetups This Week

I haven’t been doing these for awhile, but that does not mean that Quantified Self meetups have not been occurring. Far from it. If you are in the Washington D.C. area, there is a meetup on Friday, September 9th with presentations on using data to personalize one’s fitness regimen and how to use heart rate and EMG measurements to detect one’s sleep stage.
