For Clinicians
Many participants in the Quantified Self community have been clinicians or clinical researchers, and although self-tracking and self-research are sometimes presented as an alternative or even in conflict with biomedicine, in real life that’s not the case. They are complementary practices that address different scales and different kinds of questions. I’m working on a longer essay and updated bibliography about the relationship between personal science and biomedicine, and I hope to post it soon. But in the meantime, here are a few talks either by clinicians or by people whose health questions involve serious and long-term collaboration with their clinical caregivers. These show&tell presentations give a glimpse of the range of kinds of questions people explore with their own observational records.
